Adriana Mata

Adriana Mata is a Quantitative Researcher Intern at RSK Capital Partners. She is enjoying leveraging her coding skills to develop machine learning models aimed at predicting rent appreciation, with the goal of driving innovation in the Real Estate industry.

Adriana is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Financial Mathematics at the University of Chicago. This graduate program has expanded her expertise in numerical methods for option pricing, Quantitative Trading Strategies, Machine Learning, Credit Markets, and Macro Finance. In the Quantitative Trading Strategies course, she developed multiple trading strategies, tested them with real data, and backtested their performance. In the Macro Finance class, she assessed various macro asset classes, explored their interactions, and evaluated their behavior against the current market.

Adriana also holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. During this time, Adriana worked on significant projects, including the viability assessment of a Spanish airport. This project involved analyzing and implementing sustainability proposals, expansion strategies, and evaluating the economic viability of companies involved. She also conducted a research project, where she implemented data cleaning processes, developed functions to ensure precision in data handling across flight phases, and designed a machine learning model using plane sensor data to predict optimal fuel consumption, significantly enhancing fuel efficiency, and reducing operational costs.

At RSK, Adriana is responsible for collecting, cleaning, and engineering features from demographic and socio-economic datasets using Python. This work ensures high-quality inputs for our models, which have led to the development of machine learning models that identify high-potential areas for new store openings and real estate submarkets with significant rent appreciation potential. To effectively communicate these insights, Adriana has developed dynamic geographic visualizations that aid in strategic investment decisions and enhance data-driven decision-making processes.

When not immersed in research, you’ll find Adriana playing tennis, volleyball, enjoying a run, or catching up with friends to stay active and refreshed. She also likes to read about markets and global news to stay informed.
